F2 and F3 return at Monza amidst packed junior racing calendar

Formula 2 and Formula 3 return to action at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza, signaling the start of one of the busiest periods for junior single-seater racing in 2026. This weekend alone features more than a dozen championships competing worldwide, marking a significant acceleration in the motorsport calendar after a relatively quiet August, as reported by Feeder Series.

Monza Hosts Key Rounds

The historic Monza circuit, measuring 5.793 km, will host the upcoming rounds for both Formula 2 and Formula 3. While Monza has historically been the season finale venue for F3 since 2022, this year’s F3 championship battle is expected to conclude at the new Madring circuit in Spain, adding a new dimension to the series’ calendar. Spectators can follow all sessions live via F1 TV or through the series’ live timing service.

Global Junior Motorsport Extravaganza

Beyond Monza, numerous other junior championships are competing globally, showcasing a diverse range of talent and circuits. In Italy, Formula Regional Europe and Italian F4 will race at the Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari, while British motorsport sees GB3 and GB4 at Donington Park, alongside British F4 at Croft. The Americas are also active, with FR Americas and F4 US heading to Mosport in Canada, and Brazilian F4 conducting its rescheduled third round at Interlagos. Indy NXT, the support series to IndyCar, will decide its champion at the Laguna Seca doubleheader on Labor Day weekend, although the IndyCar champion, Álex Palou, secured his fourth consecutive title last weekend. Additionally, the Kyojo Cup in Japan represents a significant event in Asian junior motorsport.

Driver Changes and Injuries

Some teams are implementing driver changes for the upcoming races. Mirza Ahmetagić is set to make his single-seater debut, replacing Milla Sjöstrand at Racecraft Driver Academy. Elias Adestam, a strong performer in previous rounds, will be absent from competition after sustaining a wrist injury in his last race. Meanwhile, in Nordic 4, Richard Olson holds a 39-point lead over Matteis Stigsen heading into the season finale at Padborg Park, where 80 points are still available.
