How To Read This Site

Every story here carries one of three labels. Confirmed means the people involved have said it on the record. Reported means a newsroom we cite carries it but nobody involved has confirmed it, and the piece says so in its own text. Analysis means the facts are settled and the reading of them is ours. Each story lists the newsrooms it was written from, with a link to each one, because a reader ought to be able to check a claim without taking our word for it.

The other thing worth knowing is that times are given in Finnish time first and the circuit's own clock second, never the other way round. If you are reading from elsewhere your own clock is added beside it. That is the whole premise of the site, and it is the one thing none of the pages we measured against were doing. Every figure is generated from a dataset that names its source, so a number here can be traced rather than trusted, and every story carries the name of the person who wrote it rather than a desk label you cannot follow anywhere.
