The Court's Ruling
Cordeel was fined €3,600 and banned for six months. The court found him guilty of driving 179 km/h in a 50 km/h zone near Temse, Belgium. A video posted on TikTok reportedly depicted the incident, leading to the prosecution. Cordeel’s lawyer disputed his client's involvement, arguing there was insufficient proof linking him to the driving, despite the car belonging to his father. The case concluded earlier in August 2026.
F2 Response and Regulatory Review
F2 CEO Bruno Michel acknowledged the situation. He stated that the series must address the incident with the FIA. Michel noted the absence of specific F2 regulations requiring a standard road driving license for competitors. He indicated discussions with the FIA are necessary to determine how to proceed. This suggests a potential review of current F2 licensing policies in light of Cordeel’s ban. Cordeel continues to hold an F2 seat. He finished 17th in the 2025 F2 standings with 26 points. His best 2025 result was a fifth-place finish in the Abu Dhabi sprint race. The F2 championship standings currently show N. Tsolov leading with 167 points, G. Minì with 147, and R. Câmara with 145 points.
